Introduction
Maddy Hopson
Hi, My name
is Maddy Hopson and welcome to my blog page!
I was born
with mild Cerebral Palsy but despite this I have a great love of diving and now
have diving lessons at the Plymouth Life Centre. I decided to make this blog to
show people that even with a disability you can do the things you love, which
in my case is diving.
This blog
will be about my diving and my life in general and living with CP.
I will try to upload blogs
weekly all about the previous week. There are a lot of things happening at the
moment as I start my AS Levels, so busy busy busy!
This week
was a good week from the start on Monday: I got told that I could carry on
diving – I have been off for more then a month because my coach had been ill,
having been given the good news that I could get back on the boards next Friday
(5th December), the downside was that I would be getting a new coach
as my usual coach was still ill and wouldn’t be back til after Christmas.
Having had Charlie as my coach for more than a year, I am a bit nervous about
having a new coach but I am going to give it a go!
The rest of
the week was a blur as I was trying to get most of my AS Level Photography
Coursework finished that is due in soon – I’ve almost finished it!
Friday was a
great day as we had Mufti Day at school, it’s great being a sixth former and
wearing your own ‘smart’ clothes but it’s also nice when you get to wear ‘home
clothes’. I am a Peer Mentor for Year 8
at school and I go to their Tutor group every Friday. After registration I went
there with my memory stick as I had to give a presentation on something I love –
my topic was diving. I was nervous to
begin with as I’m not that comfortable with public speaking, but it was really fun
and it was amusing to see 12 year olds mouths hang open when you say that you
have stood on the end of the 10 metre platform!
To end the
week, I had my best friend from school for the night. We went to Tavistock's Dickensian Evening. It was a good night out looking at all the stalls and having Pizza at my favourite restaurant in Tavistock.
Hope you
have enjoyed reading my first blog & my next blog will be about getting
back on the boards with a new coach!
