Trying to overcome the fear
Maddy Hopson
This week
was the first full week back at school after the holidays – I was exhausted
when Friday came around.
I completed
all of my Photography Coursework this week and I’m starting to think about my
Final Piece Project.
This week in
diving, I got given a new target. I am pleased to say that I have defiantly
completed my target of ‘Confidently pike fall off 1m’ and Tuesday was the first
time I went in the water completely straight instead of at an angle. After
going into the water straight a couple of times, Chaz gave me my new target:
Pike Fall off 3m. I was a bit nervous about doing it as there is a bigger gap between
the platform and the water which means there is a bigger gap for something to
go wrong. I tried 3 attempts to do it but didn’t have the confidence so I ended
up just jumping off. On the 4th attempt I asked Chaz to come up on
the board with me but even with him standing on the board next to me and
encouraging me, I still couldn’t do it. Chaz was fine about it and said to try
again next week, he could tell I was frustrated about it and told me to focus
on the positive bits of the session.
Over the
weekend I went on the Plymouth Diving Website and after reading tips on how to
overcome the fear of learning dives, I think I have more confidence and I’m
ready to have another go next week.
Hopefully I
will be able to say that I conquered my fear in next week’s blog. :)
