Hard Session

I had a really hard diving session on Tuesday, worked on back jumps off poolside and flat falls off 1 metre and 3 metre, hoping to be able to do flat fall off 3 metre on Tuesday in my lesson!

Flat falls off 1metre with help from Chaz

Looking forward to this week J Diving & UCAs convention on Tuesday and then I finish for Easter on Friday!

Back to diving

I had a really good diving session on Tuesday after 3 weeks off. Completed 3metre Pike Fall 4 times followed by some tuck rolls on 1metre - which nearly ended with Chaz going into the water! :P Ended the session by jumping off 1metre, 3metre & 5metre!

Jump off 5metre - a tad bit scary!

We had a mufti day on Friday and it was a really good day! J

skiing

Half term was so much fun as we went skiing to Austria. We went with our normal ski crowd and I took one of my closet friends Beth with us.
Sunday was our first day back on the slopes – I had a private lesson and it was really fun! :D

Wednesday was a very entertaining night as when we walked out of the restaurant, I slipped over and nearly dragged Beth down with me, it then took about 10 minutes for me to get back up as I was laughing so hard! We then went to watch the Ski Show and that was amazing as always!

Friday was a proud day for me as I completed a blue/black run down to a chairlift with dad and Beth that I have only ever done with a number of ski instructors.

Because we drive, we travel for 4 days and it is fun but very tiring. I missed school on Monday but went in for my LAMDA lesson as I had an exam on Thursday – it went ok.

No diving this week as Chaz was on holiday, mum said the Life Centre phoned to say he had taken his annual leave and I started to panic because I thought it meant he would be gone for a year!! :P hahaha

Conquering my fear!

Sorry I haven’t blogged for 2 weeks, I’ve been ill.

I’m doing this blog tonight as I will be in Austria on Sunday skiing. My next blog will be when we get back (22nd/23rd Feb)

Tuesday was my first diving session back on the boards after being ill and missing 2 lessons. Started off doing Pike Falls off side of the pool & then off 1m platform. I then went up to 3m platform with Chaz but was too nervous to dive off so I just jumped off. Then went back onto 1m to do pike fall again. Both GB coaches Andy & Marc were watching me and saying that I could do it.

After having a chat with Chaz who was encouraging me, he took me up to the 10m board! We had a look down at all the other boards to find that the 3m board looked tiny! We then went down to 3m and I dived off it! I did once with help from Chaz & twice on my own! To end the session Chaz was trying to get me to do Back Pike Fall off the side of the pool. So pleased with myself and I can't stop smiling.

Back Pike Fall is quite hard as you have to bend backwards so because I had a physio appointment today, I asked for some exercises to help me. I got given quite a few and after doing them for about 5 minutes, I noticed a different in how far I could bend.

My next blog will be about my skiing holiday.

Trying again

On Tuesday I had a really hard diving session. The beginning was really good and Charlie was being his normal funny self and making fun of me. I then got frustrated when I couldn't do pike fall off 3metre - I tried a number of times but I just couldn't do it - I was more confident though then last week. Also, Chaz couldn't come up onto the board with me as I was being filmed for my A-Level. Chaz knew how frustrated I was and had a chat with me about it. Fingers crossed next time I can do it. I'm so proud of how far I've come & I couldn't have done any of it without the amazing support from Chaz and my parents.

I sorted through the clips that were taken on Tuesday in my diving lesson and I put the best ones together in a video with music. The music is: Heroes (we could be) by Alesso feat. Tove Lo.

I hope you enjoy watching it!

Trying to overcome the fear

This week was the first full week back at school after the holidays – I was exhausted when Friday came around.

I completed all of my Photography Coursework this week and I’m starting to think about my Final Piece Project.

This week in diving, I got given a new target. I am pleased to say that I have defiantly completed my target of ‘Confidently pike fall off 1m’ and Tuesday was the first time I went in the water completely straight instead of at an angle. After going into the water straight a couple of times, Chaz gave me my new target: Pike Fall off 3m. I was a bit nervous about doing it as there is a bigger gap between the platform and the water which means there is a bigger gap for something to go wrong. I tried 3 attempts to do it but didn’t have the confidence so I ended up just jumping off. On the 4th attempt I asked Chaz to come up on the board with me but even with him standing on the board next to me and encouraging me, I still couldn’t do it. Chaz was fine about it and said to try again next week, he could tell I was frustrated about it and told me to focus on the positive bits of the session.

Over the weekend I went on the Plymouth Diving Website and after reading tips on how to overcome the fear of learning dives, I think I have more confidence and I’m ready to have another go next week.

Hopefully I will be able to say that I conquered my fear in next week’s blog. :)

First Week Back

Tuesday was great as I got back to diving after 2 weeks off. I was really pleased to have Chaz back as my coach and I had a very funny lesson. Once I got home I realised that he had written the date on my learning log as 6/12/14 instead of 6/1/15 :P lol

Started back at school on Wednesday and it was a shock to the system getting up at 6:30am!

Mock exams next week so the weekend consisted of revising :/
